How much are classes?
Classes are $25 each and run for a session usually of 8 weeks. We ask that you pay for the entire session in advance. Please mail a cheque to:

How do I register for Classes?
Please download this registration form or come into the studio to register. You may mail in the registration form with your payment as well. Please e-mail us so we can reserve your space.

Do you teach Kathak?

Yes we do. Kathak Classes are taught by Joanna DeSouza and some members of the Chhandam dance company. Please visit mdo-tte.org for more info.
Do you teach dhol, harmonium, sitar or Indian vocal lessons?
At this time we do not. Please search the web to find an instructor in your area.
Do you perform at weddings?
Sorry..........we don't. However please contact Shaadi Wale - Mississauga, tel. (416) 524-2906, they are past TTE members.

Where can I rent Tabla ?
You can rent from Long & McQuade (Bloor and Ossington)
Do I need to bring Tabla to class?
No you don't.
What do I need to bring to my first class?
Yourself, paper and pen. The majority of tabla students also bring a small tape recorder to assist in their weekly practice. Bring your Tabla's if you have one.

Do I need previous musical experience?
No - you can be an absolute beginner, young or old.
How old does a child have to be before they can start tabla classes at the centre?
We recommend children be at least 7 years of age prior to beginning tabla classes. We suggest that if you wish your child to become interested in music from an early age... you may sign them up for other musical classes with an open concept which involves some directed instruction.
What if I have studied tabla before?
We suggest that you come and watch a class and get assessed by Ritesh.
What will I learn in the beginning class?
Fundamental study of the tabla. This will include its history in the North Indian traditions, the spoken language (oral tradition), learning basic strokes and foundation compositions.
How long do I have to study?
Studying tabla is a lifelong commitment. Even our instructors continue to learn.
What happens if I miss a class?
There are no make up classes.
Do I get a refund if I miss a class or I decide to drop out for the session?
There are no refunds for missed classes

Who teaches the tabla classes?
Ritesh Das and some of his senior students teach the classes at the centre.
How long does it take to become a tabla player.
This is a very common question. With many variables. How long does it take to become a piano player?
Once I am a student at the centre to I need to register for classes for the next session?
No. Once you are a student we register you for the next session automatically. If you are unable to attend the next session please let the office know or e-mail classes@tablaensemble.com. The next session will be held at the same time as your beginner class unless specified by the instructor.
If the weather is bad will you cancel classes?
We usually do... However you can always check the info line after 12 noon to hear the daily message. We will put it on the line if we cancel classes.
